Head coach Bev Smith officially introduced her 2008-09 women’s basketball squad at the team’s annual Media Day on Thursday afternoon.
The Ducks were in high demand with reporters from the Daily Emerald, Register Guard, KEZI, KMTR and KVAL in attendance.

After nearly one hour of interviews and photos, the team finally got to take the floor for practice. It’s been a week now since the squad has been in action preparing for its first exhibition game with Northwest Christian University at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2.

Prior to the start of Media Day, the team posed for a holiday photo and showed off the new uniforms.
Taylor Lilley, Micaela Cocks and Nicole Canepa were in high demand, while Ellyce Ironmonger, Ellie Manou, Victoria Kenyon, Lindsey Saffold and Rita Kollo also had to spend time with the press.

The freshmen walked away unscathed from their first media extravaganza. The trio of Darriel Gaynor, Jasmin Holliday and Amanda Johnson had to pose for a photo, but were relieved of any interviews duties.

The coaching staff would like to send out a reminder that the women’s basketball program is holding a free youth clinic to tip off the 2008-09 season on Saturday, Nov. 1 at McArthur Court.
Girls in grades 5th - 8th are invited to attend from 11 a.m. - noon, and will receive a T-shirt and tickets to the following day’s exhibition game for participating.
The clinic, hosted by the Oregon coaching staff and players, will offer free instruction, games and most importantly, FUN!!!
