GOOD TIMES IN MILWAUKEE
Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008
The verdict is in...and Lindsey Saffold confirmed tonight with some relentless work, that Eugene snow does indeed taste better than Milwaukee snow.
Lindsey Saffold takes a taste test to compare Milwaukee's snow to Eugene's.
Well if you think its cold in Eugene, you haven’t tried Milwaukee yet.
This was the scene after we left practice Tuesday night.
At practice time it was 24 degrees, but apparently it felt like 9 degrees according to the weather forecast...I guess they were factoring in the wind chill.
Although freshman Amanda Johnson has her idea of staying warm with some adult footsie-pajamas. Who knew those even existed?

AJ shows how she keeps warm in the frigid temperatures.
Speaking of AJ, I don’t think assistant coach Willette White enjoyed standing in for the “pump fake” drill today at practice. Lets just say AJ prefers to give her defender a little bit of a friendly bump with her elbow during the drill, while the rest of the guards create a little separation. It only took a couple times with AJ before coach White started stepping to the side when it was AJ’s turn to fake and drive.
We practiced inside Al McGuire Arena, named after Marquette’s legendary men’s basketball coach.
McGuire coached basketball at Marquette for 13 years, from 1964 to 1977, leading the teams to 11 consecutive post-season bids and amassing a 295-80 win-loss tally, including an NCAA championship in 1977.

Now, back to practice...
After giving up 16 offensive rebounds to Georgia Tech, the team also worked on some boxing-out drills at practice.
The lengthy Jasmin Holliday seemed to get the majority of the boards, whether she was on the offensive or defensive end. Major props go to Darriel Gaynor who got a board and ran the break to feed Tatianna Thomas for a score in transition - the prettiest break of the session.
Our hotel in Milwaukee is in the City Center. We are a block away from Starbucks and Quiznos...the basics for survival in the snow. The Grand Avenue Mall is only a couple blocks away, as some of us ventured to try and complete holiday shopping.
The highlight was the holiday display, with singing robotic bears. Their rendition of Frosty the Snowman seemed to be the favorite performance of the day.

These bears were so good we asked for an encore.
Also, assistant coach Velaida Harris sported the 2008-09 Pit Crew shirt today...while I think her eligibility has long expired for a seat in the student section...we appreciate the spirit.
GO DUCKS!!! Don't forget tip off tomorrow is 10 a.m. PST, and you can follow the game by tuning into KSCR 1320 AM or following live stats at www.GoDucks.com.
