Oregon freshman Matt Humphrey has been named GoDucks.com's student-athlete of the week for the week of March 2nd - March 6th.
On Sunday, the men's basketball team finished their 2008-2009 home season against the Oregon State Beavers with a 79-69 victory in the Civil War. After trailing 38-28 at the half, the Ducks came back to get their second Pac-10 win this season. Matt Humphrey had a career-high 17 points and 4 rebounds; shooting 75% from the field and 68% from the 3-point line. In the second half, Matt contributed 8 points during the Ducks' 24-3 run which gave Oregon their first lead of the second half. In a post-game interview, coach Ernie Kent had the following to say about the promising freshman; "He's had a couple good games for us this year and this was by far his best, he played outstanding."
