CAREER SUMMARY
Following his senior season at Oregon as the Ducks’ Saturday starter, Justin LaTempa was drafted in the 12th round (384 overall) of the 2010 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Los Angeles Angels.

LaTempa returned the diamond in 2010 after missing most of the 2009 season with an injury. He ended his senior year with a 6-3 record and 3.65 ERA in 15 starts. In 88 and 2/3 innings on the mound, the right-hander dealt 68 strikeouts and held opposing batters to a .252 clip.

LaTempa was named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week on May 3, 2010, after tossing a one-hit, complete game shutout in a 6-0 victory over Washington State on May 1.

Following that outstanding performance, he was also named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Pitcher of the Week, the Pro-Line Athletic National Pitcher of the Week, the CollegeBaseball360.com Primetime Pitcher of the Week, the College Baseball Insider National Pitcher of the Week, and was named to the College Baseball Foundation National All-Star Lineup.

LaTempa ended his collegiate career pitching in the Norwich Regional. He put the Ducks in position for the win after throwing six innings, and allowing two runs – one earned – on seven hits and three walks while striking out one in Oregon’s 4-3 victory over 17th-ranked Connecticut in an elimination game at the Norwich Regional.

His performance earned him a spot on the Norwich Regional All-Tournament Team.

AS A SENIOR 2010
Oregon’s Saturday starter during the 2010 season, finished his senior campaign with a 6-3 record and 3.65 ERA in 15 starts…tossed a total of 88 and 2/3 innings and struck out 68 while holding opposing batters to a .252 average…was named to the Norwich All-Regional team after keeping the Ducks alive in the NCAA Tournament for more one more game…in an elimination game against host and 17th-ranked Connecticut, allowed two runs – one earned – in six innings of work, scattering seven hits, issuing three walks as Oregon held on for a 4-3 victory…was named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week on May 3 after tossing a one-hit, complete game shutout in a 6-0 victory over Washington State on May 1 in front of a record-setting crowd of 3,791 at PK Park…in that outing against WSU struck out a career best 10…following that outstanding performance, he was also named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Pitcher of the Week, the Pro-Line Athletic National Pitcher of the Week, the CollegeBaseball360.com Primetime Pitcher of the Week, the College Baseball Insider National Pitcher of the Week, and was named to the College Baseball Foundation National All-Star Lineup…other season highlights included surrendering just three runs – two earned – over 6 and 1/3 innings, and being credited  with the win in Oregon’s series-clinching 8-4 upset of then No. 1 UCLA on April 17…also tossed six innings, and allowed two earned runs on nine hits while striking out four in a 5-2 victory at Washington on May 22.

AS A JUNIOR • 2009

Injured his right shoulder prior to arriving at Oregon...made his first appearance in an Oregon uniform on March 22 vs. Washington, pitching a shutout inning with one strikeout...the shoulder injury continued to bother him, shutting him down for the rest of the season and undergoing offseason surgery...was on track following the surgery in the fall of 2009 and pitched in scrimmages.

2008 MLB DRAFT
Selected in the 22nd round (678 overall) by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

PRIOR TO OREGON
Played the 2008 season at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, Calif...during the year made nine starts, pitching 54. 2 innings...finished with a 6-3 record, a 2.63 ERA and 41 strikeouts...spent the 2006 season at UC Irvine...pitched in five games, made one start...during summer of 2006 played in the New England Collegiate Baseball League...played for the North Adams Steeplecats...was 1-0 and posted a 4.32 ERA...made 10 appearances and struck out 15 batters in 16.2 innings pitched...allowed eight earned runs and walked just four...also had one save.

HIGH SCHOOL
A 2005 graduate of Huntington Beach High School (Calif.)... was named all-Sunset League...helped the team to a 2004 league title...was 5-3 as a senior...pitched two complete games and had one save...posted a 2.30 ERA.
