Oregon junior right-hander Erik Stavert was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the seventh round (211 overall) of the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Stavert was Oregon’s ace during its reinaugural season in 2009, recording over 1/3 of the Ducks’ victories (14) with a 5-6 record and a 3.04 ERA. The Livermore, Calif., native was named Pac-10 Conference Honorable Mention after starting 14 games, pitching a staff-leading 94 and 2/3 innings, allowing just 40 runs (34 earned), and dealing a staff-best 82 strikeouts. He also held opposing batters to a .230 clip.

In the regular season, Stavert ranked in the top-10 of three conference categories; ERA (3.04, 9th), innings pitched (94.2, 4th) and strikeouts (82, 9th).
