DURHAM, N.C. -- University of Oregon right-hander Jake Reed has been named to Baseball America's 2012 Freshman All-America second team, the publication announced Wednesday.

The hurler from La Mesa, Calif., who is currently on tour as a member of the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, went 8-4 as a true freshman this past season, posting a 2.92 ERA while leading the staff with 15 quality starts. He was also named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and received Pac-12 honorable mention accolades.

Reed's prowess as UO's Saturday starter helped the Ducks to a 46-19 record and Super Regional appearance.

Reed was one of six Pac-12 players to earn Freshman All-America status from Baseball America.
