EUGENE, Ore. -- University of Oregon third baseman Ryan Hambright was named Most Valuable Player of the NCAA Division I Men's Baseball Championship Eugene Regional after leading the tournament with a .636 (7 for 11) batting average and helping the host Ducks (45-17) to the regional championship and a spot in next week's NCAA Super Regional round.
A junior from Corona, Calif., Hambright had at least one hit in all three Oregon victories, scored three times and drove in one run. He was one of six Ducks named to the All-Regional team.
Runner-up Austin Peay (40-24) was next with three selections, including right-hander Casey Delgado, who tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout vs. Cal State Fullerton in Sunday's first game.
