EUGENE, Ore. - Ryon Healy went 2-for-4 with a solo home run to lead No. 16 Oregon to a 4-3 win over Texas State at PK Park on Tuesday night.
Texas State (5-11) took an early lead with a run in the top of the second, but Oregon rallied with two runs in the third. Connor Hofmann started the rally with a double off centerfielder Morgan Mickan's glove and scored to tie the game on a RBI single by J.J. Altobelli. Scott Heineman followed with a double to left center scoring Altobelli to give the Ducks a 2-1 lead.
The Bobcats tied the game with a run in the top of the fifth. Kevin Sah tripled to centerfield over Hofmann's head driving in Morgan Mickan, who reached on a two-out RBI.
Back-to-back doubles to lead off the top of the sixth gave the Bobcats the lead back. Designated hitter Andrew Stumph started the inning with a double off the left-field wall and scored on a two-bagger to right center by Ben McElroy.
The Ducks took the lead right back with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Healy tied the game with a solo home run to left field, his third of the season. Ryan Hambright gave Oregon the lead with a two-out RBI single scoring Tyler Baumgartner, who doubled to get on base.
The Ducks bullpen polished off the Bobcats allowing no runs over the final three innings. Garrett Cleavinger allowed just one hit and a walk in 1.2 innings, before Christian Jones came on to get the last out of the eighth inning with runners on the corners.
Jimmie Sherfy picked up his fifth save of the season allowing only an infield hit in the ninth while striking out three.
Oregon and Texas State wrap up their two-game series Wednesday at PK Park at 6 p.m.
