EUGENE, Ore. – Jimmie Sherfy has been named a Louisville Slugger second-team All-American, Collegiate Baseball newspaper announced today. It is the second straight season Sherfy has received Louisville Slugger All-America honors.
Sherfy, a junior from Camarillo, Calif., enters postseason play second in the country in saves with 20 after leading the Pac-12 during the regular season. He posted a 2-0 record with a 1.67 ERA during the regular season and is the active career leader in strikeouts per nine innings. He also ranks second among active players in career saves with 39, and broke his own single-season record for saves at Oregon. Sherfy is also a semifinalist for both the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy honoring the top player in college baseball. Sherfy is also on the Stopper of the Year midseason watch list and the Pitcher of the Year watch list.
Sherfy was a third-team pick last season after finishing with 19 saves, a 5-3 record and a 2.20 ERA.
