SEATTLE, Wash. – Five Oregon pitchers combined to allow just two hits but it wasn’t enough for the No. 19 Ducks who lost 1-0 at No. 14 Washington on Saturday in Pac-12 Conference play at Husky Ballpark.

The Ducks (22-9, 7-4 Pac-12) mounted a ninth-inning rally loading the bases with two outs, but Washington (21-6-1, 9-3 Pac-12) closer Troy Rallings escaped with his fourth save when Shaun Chase lined out to left field.

The Huskies scored the only run of the game in the third inning off Trent Paddon, who relieved starter Matt Krook after he felt stiffness in his arm after getting ahead of the leadoff hitter in the inning 0-2. Paddon retired the first hitter, but then gave up a walk and a double that landed on the left-field foul line to give UW a 1-0 lead.

Paddon (0-2) settled down and went 4.0 innings allowing one run on just one hit while fanning three. Krook left the game after striking out four in 2.1 innings pitched.

Washington starter Tyler Davis (6-1) got the win striking out a career-high 10 in 7.2 innings.

Kyle Garlick led Oregon with two hits, including an infield single that loaded the bases in the top of the ninth.

Oregon and Washington will wrap up the three-game series on Sunday at 3 p.m. on the Pac-12 Networks. The Ducks will send Jeff Gold (7-0) to the mound looking to win the series.
