Third baseman Mitchell Tolman was named hitter of the week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Tuesday, a day after being named Pac-12 player of the week for hitting .600 as the Oregon baseball team won five times last week.

Tolman, a sophomore from Lake Forest, Calif., was 9-for-15 on the week with six RBIs and five runs. He had a hit in all five games — two midweek wins over Portland and a weekend sweep of UC Riverside — and had multiple hits four times.

Tolman was named NCBWA hitter of the week for the second time in his career, and the first this season. He was named conference player of the week for the first time, and was the first UO position player so honored this season.

The No. 23 Ducks, who beat San Diego on Monday for their sixth straight win, host a three-game Pac-12 series against Washington State beginning Thursday at 6 p.m.
