Hi Duck fans!
We are here in Atlanta about to compete for the first time under the National Competitive Stunts and Tumbling Association's new meet format. Our team can't be more excited to finally do something that we have talked about and practiced for many, many times. Friday night can't get here soon enough!
Our team arrived in Atlanta on Wednesday evening and has been adapting to east coast time. We had practice today, and the girls seem to be very in tune with one another. A couple of last minute changes were made prior to the trip and at today's practice, but Coach Mulkey and I feel that our team has really pulled together and can think and act as a unit. This meet format is new to our team and coaches, as well as to the other participating teams and coaches. Coach Mulkey and I helped create this new meet format but all the other coaches in the NCSTA chipped in so nobody will have an advantage. But we have prepared our players and we think the Ducks will make a great showing against the Terps, Bobcats, and Bulldogs!
This meet is the innagural event for the NCSTA, but it is also a homecoming for Coach Mulkey and myself. Coach Mulkey was the former coach at Kennesaw State University for 11 years, and where I competed under her for five of those years. I have been able to spend some time with family, as has coach Mulkey and some of our team. We are very excited to show our hometown friends and family as well as our new Duck friends and family what we have been working on so hard. It has been a challenge creating this sport and creating a new organization while also preparing our team to be ready to compete in this new format. However, we feel it has been a very rewarding challenge and we are making great progress in bringing this new sport to the forefront.
Goodnight Eugene and Go Ducks!
