FAIRMONT, W. Va.- The University of Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team passed another stiff test and set two new National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association records by defeating Fairmont State, 291.26-288.375 at Joe Retton Arena in Fairmont, W. Va. on Wednesday.

The Ducks move to 7-0 on the season, making a strong case for the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCATA National Tournament to be held Apr. 26-28 in Waco, Texas.  Oregon is the only team in the league that has not lost a competition. The Falcons are now 2-4 with the loss.

The compulsory round was a very close event, but Oregon was able to edge Fairmont State, 39.45-39.1, to take an early lead due to two perfect scores in the acro heat and the pyramid heat. The Falcons did not back down as they matched the Ducks' perfect marks with two of their own in the pyramid and toss portion.

Moving into the acro heat, UO was not as sharp and lost that round, 28.88-29.95 and fell behind 67.65-67.40 in the running tallies.

The Ducks made up ground, though, in the pyramid event by striking flawless scores in all three heats. Oregon has now notched a perfect score in every heat of the pyramid heat and moved into the toss event only down five-tenths of a point.

UO tied with FSU in heat three, won heat two, but was edged in heat one, setting up a 126.40-124.40 tie heading into the tumbling event.

The Ducks needed a strong tumbling score to put them ahead heading into the team routine and Oregon gave it their all  and was able to snatch the lead back from the Falcons.

UO beared down and won all six events, including securing perfect scores in the aerial and six-element tumbling passes. It marks the second straight meet that the Ducks have recorded perfect scores in the aerial and six-element tumbling passes. With those two 10's, Oregon notched a program-high seven perfect scores and has now scored five or more 10's in back-to-back competitions.

Leading 184.18-182.68 with only the team routine left, the Ducks had to put together a solid performance to bring home the victory and the UO did exactly that as they tallied a season-high 106.76 in comparison to Fairmont State's 105.60, winning the meet 291.26 to 288.376. With that team routine, the Ducks smashed the NCATA record for team routine (106.56) and total meet score (290.56) set by Maryland on Mar. 9 against Quinnipiac.

Oregon will have no time to rest as they head to Waco to take on Baylor on Saturday (Mar. 31) at 4 p.m. (PST).
