Notes Preview
Monday, August 25, 5:00 a.m.

Game Week starts early around here at Duck Feed headquarters. As I cobble together the first weekly football press release of the 2008 campaign, here are a few nuggets from the complete notes that will be posted later today on GoDucks.com.

HUSKIES IN THE SERIES
SO QB Jake Locker had a career day against the Ducks in 2007 despite his team's defeat. Locker threw for 257 yards and 4 TDs against one interception. He is UW's leading returning rusher in the series with 78 yards, and only one of two current Huskies to ever gain positive rushing yardage against UO. SR TE Michael Gottlieb has played in the three previous games against the Ducks and has a pair of catches totaling 12 yards. SO WR D'Andre Goodwin is the only other UW player to have caught a pass versus the Ducks (1 for 3 yds). JR DE Daniel Te'o Nesheim, a high school teammate of Oregon SR C Max Unger, has 10 tackles, including a sack, in two career games against the Ducks. JR PK Ryan Perkins has connected on both FG attempts and all three PATs in his career against UO.

DUCKS IN THE SERIES
Of UO's returners who have played against the Huskies, JR RB Andre Crenshaw leads the pack in rushing with 128 yards, 2 TD and a 7.1 yards per carry avg. over two games. All told, four current Ducks have gained positive yards on the ground vs. UW, including SR RB Jeremiah Johnson and SO RB Remene Alston, who each have a rushing TD to their credit. SR WR Jaison Williams is a big fan of the rivalry, catching 13 balls for 152 yards and a touchdown in three games. SO WR Aaron Pflugrad shined in his lone game against the Dawgs, hauling in five passes for 51 yards a year ago. The Ducks do not have a single quarterback who has attempted a pass against UW. On defense, Oregon has 18 players on the current roster who have made at least one tackle against Washington. Leading the way is SR ROV Patrick Chung with 21 TT and two interceptions in three prior appearances. JR CB Walter Thurmond III has 12 tackles in two games, and JR CB Jairus Byrd has seven stops and one pick in two games. SR PK Matt Evensen has 22 points scored versus the Huskies on 3-of-4 FG and 13-of-13 PATs.

Andre Crenshaw has a career average of 7.1 yards per carry against the Huskies.

STRANGE BUT TRUE
Departed QB Dennis Dixon played in three UO/UW clashes, throwing a total of one touchdown against three interceptions. The current Pittsburgh Steeler totaled just 304 passing yards and completed less than 60 percent of his passes in the three Oregon victories.
