O Heroes to participate in campus-wide fundraiser ‘Dance Marathon’
Release Date: 01/13/2011
The University of Oregon’s student athlete-run non-profit, O Heroes, will participate in the upcoming campus-wide fundraiser sponsored by the Holden Leadership Center, the Dance Marathon, on Saturday January 22 at the Erb Memorial Union on the UO campus.
Dance Marathon is a 12-hour dance event and fundraiser that will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds for children’s hospitals. Locally, funds raised will go to the Sacred Heart Medical Center’s children and infants unit.
The 12-hour dancing spree will last from noon until midnight and was planned as a symbolic tribute to the parents of infants in need of intense neonatal care, who rarely have the opportunity to sit down or sleep while their newborns struggle for their lives.
The O Heroes have requested the participation of the public in their fundraising effort with the goal of raising $5,000 for the cause. A link to their donor page is included below. If you choose to make a donation you can select a participating athletes’ name and donate on their behalf, or simply make a donation to the ‘O Heroes team’.
