Each week OHEROES sits down with one of our student-athletes to get to know more about them on and off of the court. This week we feature Alaina Bergsma, a 6'3" redshirt senior outside hitter on the Oregon Women's Volleyball team.
Involved in many extra curricular activities, she serves as a role model to many in the community. She balances outstanding academic performance with being an All-American volleyball player and Miss Oregon USA 2012. As if that list is not impressive enough, Alaina continuously involves herself within O Heroes events to give back to the community.
Just recently, she has participated in the University of Oregon's Dance Marathon, delivered game tickets to select youth at the John Serbu Juvenile Justice Center, and has been a Children's Miracle Network fundraising pageant judge. She plans to continue her philanthropic work in her post-graduation life by staying involved with youth and teaching them about maintaining a positive body image.
Alaina is a Sports Business major in the Lundquist College of Business. When she graduates she aspires to play volleyball professionally overseas, obtain a career within international sports business and, eventually, attend law school.
