Each week O Heroes sits down with one of our student-athletes to get to know more about them on and off the field. This week we feature Grant Thompson, a 5-11 linebacker on the Oregon Football team.

A native to Cottage Grove, OR, Thompson is well-known around the athletic department for his academic success, athletic achievements and his unmistakeable sense of humor. A senior Family and Human Services (FHS) major, he has made a lasting impact around the university and in the Eugene/ Springfield community.

In addition to joining a select group of 20 fellow student-athletes for the Courts for Kids service trip to the Dominican Republic last summer, Thompson has volunteered numerous hours to other O Heroes events. Last year he participated in Quackin' Action, Showtime, various anti-bullying assemblies, Special Olympics Bowling, Read Across America
and volunteered multiple times at the Boys & Girls Club of Emerald Valley.

Grant continues to be a role model within the community, in the classroom and on the field. After graduation he plans to take his experiences with O Heroes and continue participating in community service events.
