Each week O Heroes sits down with one of our student-athletes to get to know more about them on and off the field. This week we feature De’Anthony Thomas, a student-athlete on both the Oregon Football team and Oregon Track & Field team. Currently, Thomas is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Family and Human Services (FHS).

DAT is well-known for his talents on the field and on the track, but he also serves as an active volunteer within the community. Amidst a heavy load of school and sports, he still finds time to dedicate to local kids. This past winter, Thomas coached a youth YMCA basketball team.

His passion for giving back can be seen through his countless hours spent working with youth. In his free time, Thomas reads to kids, speaks at elementary schools and volunteers at numerous other community events.

After his collegiate years, Thomas plans to continue his community work, and remain a positive mentor to the kids he works with. His dedication to athletics, school and serving local youth makes Thomas an outstanding O Hero.
