This past May, Alex Rovello, a member of the men’s tennis team, died in a tragic drowning accident at Tamolitch Falls.

A native to Portland, Rovello went to Cleveland High where he was a four-time state champion. His decorated athletic career was earned during the hours he spent practicing at the Berkeley Park courts near his home.

Since his passing, friends have created the “Alex Rovello Memorial Berkeley Park Tennis Donation Fund” at Wells Fargo. Any contributions made will go towards renovating the courts. Jim Rovello, Alex’s father, hopes the funds raised will cover costs to resurface the courts, put in new benches, get new nets up, and clean up the Berkeley Park tennis area.

Home to where Rovello trained to become Oregon’s No. 1 player, improvements done to the park will be in his memory.
