It's been a while, but as our trusty editor/blog maestro is off on his final vacation heading into the fall sports season, yours truly will be manning the daily football practice blog until Rob returns on Friday.

We'll be embedded at practice from tomorrow on with the goal of providing the best insight into Mark Helfrich's initial squad at Oregon.

Personally, I don't expect practice to look any different than the past four years (any recipe resulting in annual BCS bowl trips probably shouldn't be altered much), but it will be great to read Rob's take as he goes behind the curtain to take in the Ducks' unique, up-tempo practices in person.

The one part of preseason camp that is sure to be brand new is the primary venue, with the two former grass fields next to what was once Pape' Field replaced by two full size artificial turf playing surfaces and one grass field that all sit west of the sparkling new Hatfield-Dowlin Complex.

So check this space tomorrow for the rundown of Day 1. The first horn will sound at 1:45 p.m. and the 2013 college football season will officially be a thing for the Oregon Ducks.
