The first weekend of the season in which all four fall sports were in action featured a few triumphs but also some struggles.

The cross country season got underway in Portland, with the UO women sweeping Oregon State, Portland and PSU. The UO men also beat the Viks but lost to the eighth-ranked Pilots.

The volleyball team continues its search for offense, and didn't find it in Michigan. The Ducks lost to Michigan State on Friday and fell to Michigan on Saturday, though setter Lauren Plum set a school record for career assists against the Wolverines.

The women's soccer team also lost twice, to Hawaii on Friday and to UC Irvine on Sunday. The Ducks peppered the net with shots in both games, and are confident they'll break through offensively if they maintain that effort.

And of course, Oregon's football team went to Virginia and won on Saturday.
