Eugene will host ESPN's "College GameDay" for a record fifth straight year when the on-campus pregame show comes to town for No. 2 Oregon's showdown with No. 12 UCLA on Saturday.
It will be the 18th Oregon game overall that Chris Fowler and company will be on hand for, and the eighth in Eugene. "College GameDay" was most recently in Eugene for the Ducks' loss to Stanford last fall, and last featured a game involving Oregon earlier this month in Seattle.
The Ducks moved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Pac-12 with a 62-38 win over Washington State yesterday. UCLA saw its unblemished record sullied at Stanford, falling to 5-1 overall, 2-1 in conference play.
Saturday's game will kickoff at 4 p.m. in Autzen Stadium, and was selected today for telecast by ESPN.
In the polls this morning, Oregon remained No. 2 according to both media and coaches. The Ducks surrendered two of their five first-place votes to Florida State in the AP poll, after the Seminoles' win over Clemson, but remained solidly No. 2 behind Alabama. Oregon picked up a first-place vote and now has four in the coaches' poll.
All of that will take a back seat this evening when the first Bowl Championship Series rankings of the season are released. Early projections are mixed between Oregon and Florida State filling the No. 2 spot behind Alabama.
The BCS does not use the AP poll. It incorporates the coaches' poll, the Harris poll and the average of six computer rankings.
The BCS rankings will be released during an ESPN telecast at 5:30 p.m. PT.
