Joining the Duck coaching staff for his first season in 2012, Gary Meininger brings an impressive and wide array of coaching expertise in both volleyball and a host of prep sports.

A 34-year member of the Oaklea Middle School staff, he has served as the Junction City High School volleyball head coach the past 10 years. In that span, his squad have successfully advanced to the state playoffs eight seasons and the OSAA state tournament four years.

In 2006, his team won the Sky-Em league, and he was honored as the league coach of the year.

He has also worked six years as a club volleyball coach for the Oregon Volleyball Club (formally known as Storm-n-West VC), and also at Oregon camps in the same span.

In his prep coaching career year, he has also coached middle school football, wrestling, basketball, and track and field, and served as the middle school athletic director. His dedication to prep sports also includes 20 years as an OSAA wrestling official.

A former collegiate wrestler for Pacific Lutheran University (1972-76), he received a degree in physical education from the institution near Tacoma, Wash.

The Oak Harbor, Wash., native and his wife Sherri have three daughters Renee (30), Kelsey (21), and Kiersten (17), and Sherri is University of Oregon graduate (1984).

Off the court, his hobbies include racquetball, golf and fly-fishing.
