Sophomore Hronis Grasu is one of 51 players named to the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, which is presented annually to college football’s most outstanding center.

Named after the University of Nebraska’s two-time consensus All-America center (1981, 1982), Dave Rimington, the recipient is determined by the number of first-place votes tallied in the voting for prestigious All-America teams sponsored by the American Football Coaches Association, the Walter Camp Foundation, The Sporting News, and the Football Writers Association of America.

The Encino, Calif., standout started all 14 games for Oregon as a redshirt freshman a year ago for a team that won its third straight conference title and won its first Rose Bowl in 95 years. The Ducks finished 2011 ranked fifth in the country in rushing (299.2 avg.), fourth in total offense (522.8) and third in scoring (46.1), with Grasu helping pave the way for national rushing leader and school record-holder LaMichael James (150.4 avg.).

The winner will be honored at the Rimington Trophy Presentation banquet Jan. 12, 2013 in Lincoln, Neb.
