Members of the Duck Football team spread some holiday goodwill and cheer last Saturday, December 17 at the local Target store. After receiving multiple anonymous donations from both within and outside the athletic department, the Ducks worked with a local agency to identify twenty youth in need of a little extra help this Christmas. Each youth was given $100 to purchase gifts for their family members and got to choose a few Duck players to help them out.
After all the items were chosen, the Ducks helped the kids wrap them so that they would be ready to go for Christmas. In all, 35 football players turned out for the event including starters like Darron Thomas, Lavasier Tuinei, David Paulson and Carson York. Players expressed their gladness to take the time to be there as well as their thanks to those who gave generously to make the event possible.
As the Ducks approach their appearance at the 98th Rose Bowl vs. Wisconsin they will have a short-but-sweet opportunity to make it home for Christmas with their own families then make a quick turnaround to finish preparing for the January 2nd bowl game.
