PHOENIX - For the most part, Oregon's trip to the Fiesta Bowl has been business as usual: Eat, meet, lift, practice, etc. But Sunday afternoon, a large team contingent, including a mildly popular mascot, paid a visit to the Phoenix Children's Hospital.
"It means a lot for me to be here," said linebacker Mike Garrity. "I was in the hospital when I was young too because I was diabetic, diagnosed as a little kid, so I know what it's like."
The Ducks have made a habit out of visiting local hospitals during bowl trips and they typically turn out to be as fulfilling and enjoyable for the players as the patients.
"It's good for them," said freshman defensive back Oshay Dunmore. "it's even more of a pleasure for us to come in here and just be able to make a difference in somebody's life."
