Opening Round At The Prestige Postponed Through 15 Holes, Ducks Sit In Tie For 10th

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Only two Oregon golfers were able to play all 18 holes on Monday during the first round at The Prestige in La Quinta, Calif.  The tournament’s opening round was postponed due to darkness and will be completed tomorrow morning.


Only senior Robbie Ziegler and sophomore Jonathan Woo completed their rounds at the Par-71, 7,046-yard PGA West Golf Course.  Ziegler shot a one-over 72 and Woo carded a six-over 77.  Ziegler was in a tie for 35th when play was postponed.


Oregon’s three other competitors, freshman Sulman Raza, senior Tyler Parker and freshman Brandon McIver, each managed to complete 15 holes.  Raza and Parker sat at even par and McIver checked in at four-over by day’s end.  Ziegler and Parker are currently in a tie for 24th overall.


As a team, the Ducks are five-over through 15 holes and sit in a four-way tie for 10th with UC Davis, Arizona State and Pepperdine.


All participants from TCU and USC were able to complete all 18 holes at PGA West on Monday.  TCU’s 278 (-6) leads the tournament by one stroke over USC (279, -5). 

The first round will be completed Tuesday morning beginning at 8 a.m.  Second round play will follow.  All five of Oregon’s golfers are scheduled to tee off their second rounds between 10 and 10:40 a.m.  Live coverage is available at golfgamebook.com.
