PERSONAL — Born Josh Warren Tschirgi on March 15, 1985 in Port Angeles, Wash. Parents: Chris and Debbie Tschirgi. Family: One brother. High School (Coach): Skyview (Dave Armstrong) 2003. Major: Graduated with a degree in political science. Redshirt: 2003.

OREGON — It’s difficult to think of a two-year starter as underrated but he continues to perform at a high level with little fanfare. Epitomizes a “blue-collar” workhorse who does whatever is needed of him to accomplish the task at hand. Grabbed hold of the starting left guard position as a sophomore and refused to relinquish it. Is a fierce competitor who plays with a great deal of pride, and has developed into a good technician. Also has assumed the role as one of the program’s senior leaders. Sat out the last half of spring drills while awaiting an ankle injury to heal but his absence was of little concern. Will be ready to assume his familiar role once fall drills open.

2006 — Oregon’s 11-game starter at left guard was instrumental for a unit that finished second in the Pac-10 in fewest quarterback sacks allowed (16) as well as led the league in rushing offense (14th nationally) for the first time since 1955. Helped the Ducks rush for 315 yards at Arizona State as well as 316 yards vs. Washington. Honored along with the entire offensive line as team’s “offensive player of the week” for their play against Washington. Took part in 70 or more plays on seven occasions, led by 81 snaps at USC.

2005 — Thrived in his debut as a starter at Houston and proceeded to open nine more games at left guard, seeing action in all 12 contests. Experienced his most extensive action to date by taking 76 snaps at Arizona State and 68 vs. Oklahoma. Part of the quintet in the trenches that all shared the team’s offensive player-of-the-week accolades for their play against the Sun Devils.

2004 — Made appearances in seven games, including 42 snaps vs. Idaho and 12 plays in his collegiate debut at Oklahoma. Praised for his efforts against the Sooners, Vandals and Arizona.

2003 — Earned offensive scout team player of the week honors for his preparations prior to the Mississippi State game during his redshirt season.

HIGH SCHOOL — One of the top-20 ranked offensive linemen on the West Coast (PacWest Football) displayed the qualities that would make him a good fit in the Ducks’ system at offensive guard or center, with solid footwork conducive to his utilization around the perimeter. Emerged as a dominating run blocker and credited with 45 pancake blocks as a prep junior.
