JOHNSON-LOCKHART FILE COACHING HIGHLIGHTS PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS
Considered one of the top professionals in her field, Tina Johnson-Lockhart is in her eighth season as a Duck volleyball assistant coach and a key part of one of the nation’s top coaching staffs. UO’s kills totals have equally exploded over the span of six seasons (2010 - 1,539; 2009 - 1,616; 2008 - 1,771; 2007 - 1,943; 2006 - 1,608; 2005 - 1,577) – all exponentially higher than the season total (1,397) in ‘04 before the current staff’s arrival. In 2010, her coaching and recruiting experience helped the Oregon offense quickly reload after the loss of three All-Americans the prior two years. All-Pac-10 outside hitter Heather Meyers shined as one of the nation's most dynamic hitters, while sophomore transfer Alaina Bergsma and freshman setter Lauren Plum were All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention and Pac-10 All-Freshman Team choices. Meyers Meyers logged top-10 Duck marks in a season for points (sixth, 494; seventh, 4.57 p/s), and career-wise, stood likewise in points (second, 1,704.5), aces (second, 173), hitting (third, .291) and kills (fifth, 1393). In '09, the Ducks celebrated another pair of All-American honors as Sonja Newcombe reset the school record for points (1822.5) and ranked 20th nationally in kills (4.35 per set) and points (4.89 p/s), and Neticia Enesi logged the second-highest hitting mark in a season for UO (.374) and ranked 16th nationally. In ‘07, Maricic broke UO’s record for points per set (6.07) and led the Pac-10 and ranked fourth nationally in kills per set (5.50) en route to her first All-America honor. Heather Meyers paced UO’s hitters that season with a .347 attack percentage — third best-ever among Ducks — and was a Pac-10 All-Freshman Team honoree. Mira Djuric made an equally immediate impact in 2005 as a Pac-10 All-Freshman pick after she racked up UO’s second-most points ever in a season (546). Throughout her career the Houston, Texas, native has been the driving force in attracting a collection of the nation’s top athletes as an assistant. Among the arsenal during her collegiate tenure are two Olympians, 28 All-America selections, 53 all-conference honorees, 31 Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 Players and 24 scholastic All-Americans. In addition to bringing some of the nation’s top talent to her coaching stops, Lockhart’s time on the court has helped her bring an understanding and intensity to recruiting and coaching that make her a valuable member of the staff. A former University of Houston student-athlete, Johnson-Lockhart has experienced the challenges of excelling both on and off the court at the collegiate level, and is able to convey that to her student-athletes. As a former outside player, she is a key ingredient in the development of the UO hitters. When she’s not on the sidelines coaching, she coordinates team travel and recruiting. Exceptional organizational skills help her keep a handle on all that’s going on, plus more. While at UT, she directed the Longhorn Volleyball Camps, which brought more than 1,200 junior high and high school players to the Austin campus. A 1990 graduate of Houston, she earned a business administration degree in management. She attended Marymount College of Kansas, earning All-District and team MVP honors, prior to transferring to Houston. She was a 1989 First Team All-Southwest Conference player for the Cougars, leading the conference in kills that year. She earned AVCA First Team All-Region honors in 1988, her first year with the program. The former Tina Johnson is married to Marcus Lockhart, and they have two nine-year-old children, Analise and Savion. Her mother Linda Taylor also resides in Eugene.
