#8 Naya Crittenden
Position: Outside Hitter (Opposite Side)
Height: 6'2"
Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Modesto, Calif.
High School: Peter Johansen
Experience: High School

The left-handed outside hitter is part of a talented five-member freshman class that will join the Ducks in the fall of 2013 (and is the only outside hitter). Was tabbed to the Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 list in February 2013 with Duck incoming frosh Halee Roberts (one of six Ducks in Jim Moore's head coaching tenure). With the graduation of two senior outside hitters after the fall 2012 campaign (National Player of the Year Alaina Bergsma and Katherine Fischer) will challenge for action immediately thanks to her explosive athletic potential.

Prep: The dynamic multi-sport athlete and three-year volleyball letterwinner blossomed into an all-conference pick in 2011. In club action, her Rage VC team was a 2012 Regional Qualifier and placed sixth in the Gold Division, and added fifth place in the National Division at Junior Nationals. Also an accomplished sprinter, the three-year letterwinner helped her 4x100-meter relay team win Modesto Metropolitan Conference titles in 2011 and ’12, and her pre-senior season best time in the 400 meters was 59.33.

Personal: Intended Marketing major. Parents are Michael and Pamela, and has one older brother, Omari. Her father ran track for California, and Omari was a USC football player (2007-10). Among other family football ties, her uncle (Andre Todd) played at Oregon State, and her cousin Keylin Macke plays at San Mateo College (2012-). Three other cousins were or currently are collegiate track and field athletes - Talia Stewart (USC, 2005-09), Tracy Stewart (California, 2006-11) and Thandie Stewart (Miami, 2012-).

“Naya is so gifted athletically – as much as any signee we have ever had,” Oregon head coach Jim Moore said. “She jump touches around where Canace (Finley) is at (10-6), and she’s left-handed, so she is a great addition in many ways. She has a huge block, is as tall as Alaina (Bergsma), and is really quick. She hasn’t played club at the highest level as some players, so there may be some adjustment, but she will be a huge asset for us in the long run.”
