In the 10th edition of the season, No. 20 UO stood as the sixth-highest of seven Pac-10 teams sighted, and overall has been ranked between 11th and 20th in 2010.
Compared to last week, No. 2 California (20-1), No. 3 Stanford (18-2), No. 7 USC (19-3) and No. 10 UCLA (17-5) all improved a position; No. 11 Washington and No. 20 Oregon dropped four and two spots, respectively; and No. 23 Arizona remained the same.
Among other poll notes, No. 1 Florida (18-1) remained atop the rankings for the fourth straight week. The former second-ranked team, No. 5 Nebraska (20-2), lost at No. 8 Texas in four sets and swept No. 12 Iowa State at home; and the former fifth-ranked squad, No. 4 Hawai’i, swept Boise State and New Mexico State at home.
The Ducks have been ranked consecutively for more than three seasons, a stretch that has included 14 combined top-10 appearances in 2007, ’08 and ’09, and an all-time high position of sixth.
Before the arrival of sixth-year head coach Jim Moore, Oregon’s previous longest poll streak was a 28-week run from 1986-88 (with a previous program high of 11th three times in that span).

This weekend, No. 20 Oregon opens the final month of the regular season in the desert against two other rivals that are separated by less than two matches in the Pac-10 standings. UO first faces No. 23 Arizona (16-7, 5-5) on Friday, November 5, then travels to Arizona State (10-13, 4-6), Saturday, November 6, and both matches start at 7 p.m.
UO has won seven of the last nine vs. the Sun Devils, and sports a 4-5 record against the Wildcats the last five seasons.
Last weekend in Tempe, Arizona topped ASU by a 3-1 score to end a three-match losing streak. In comparison, Oregon dropped only its second and third home matches of the season by 3-0 scores to No. 2 California and No. 3 Stanford.
Freshman setter Lauren Plum logged her fifth double-double of the season against the Golden Bears (38 assists, 11 digs) and led the team in the latter category for the second time. Two starters posted +.400 hitting marks – redshirt sophomore Alaina Bergsma (.444, 11 kills) and freshman Ariana Williams (.462, 6 kills).
The night before, the Cardinal was held to its second-lowest hitting total of the season (.242), and its kill average (11.33 p/s) was also noticeably lower than its second-best mark nationally (15.41).
