Head Coach Dana Altman

On the game…
“I wasn’t pleased, I think we were so confident and shot well on offense, but on defense I was not pleased. The offense was great and we moved the ball and transitioned well, but that defensive effort won’t get it done on the road.”

“I would like us to be more balanced and guard somebody.”

On Iowa’s Roy Devyn Marble…

“When guys hit a couple their eyes get big. He only hit 15 or 16 three’s all year, but he had a good day, he shot pretty well.”

On what we have to do against Washington…
“They’re big inside and we have to go inside and make plays.”

“I want guys to make plays on offense and defense; we have to keep moving the ball well.”

Guard Garrett Sim

On Iowa shooting well early…
“They did a good job of making shots early, and we got lost in the zone a little. They were getting open looks and knocking them down.”

“We needed to buckle down and in the second half we did a better job of contesting their shots.”

On playing at Washington…
“Playing at Washington is hard, so we need to stay together and play hard.”

On being able to fight back and win the game…
“It shows the character of this team, we didn’t get down on ourselves, we just clawed our way back. The veterans on the team kept everyone cool and we kept making plays for each other.”

Forward E.J. SIngler

On players stepping up…
“We had a lot of players that stepped up tonight. Olu (Ashaolu) had one of his best games of the season and did well in the paint and Carlos (Emory) played really well for us.”

On what to do to beat Washington…
“We need to get more defensive minded and get more stops. We need to focus in on our defense and learn from tonight.”

On playing at Madison Square Garden…
“We have our eyes set on Madison Square Garden. We’re excited to go up to Washington and then have a chance to play at Madison Square Garden.”

Iowa Head Coach Fran McCaffery

On the game…
“At the end of the 1st half we had momentum. In the 2nd half, I thought that regarding our offense, we couldn’t play any better than that. To their credit they played man to man and they just ran.”

“In the 2nd half it seemed like they were making every shot and they got it going.”

On Iowa’s struggle…
“I think a little bit of the problem was fatigue on our part, but they were also open. They had to make those shots and they made them.”

Iowa forward Devyn Roy Marble

On his approach for the game…
“I just wanted to come in and be aggressive. Coach (Fran McCaffery) said I wasn’t taking enough shots so that’s what I was trying to do tonight.”

“They [Oregon] have a lot of good shooters. [Devoe]Joseph, [E.J.] Singler, and [Garrett] Sim were all making tough shots. They had their home crowd behind them and it was to their advantage. They were shooting the ball just as easy as we were, if not easier.

On the second half…
“We were a little winded. In some places we were lacking in communication and they capitalized on it.”
