EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon senior forward Arsalan Kazemi has been cleared by the NCAA to play this season after the NCAA granted his request to waive the one-year residency rule for Division I transfers.

Kazemi arrived at UO after a three-year standout career at Rice University. The first Iranian-born basketball player to play at the Division I level, Kazemi averaged a double-double over 95 career games with the Owls (12.6 points, 10.1 rebounds).

Also a standout for his country's national team, Kazemi helped lead Iran to an 8-1 mark at the FIBA Asia Championships in 2011, averaging 12 points and nearly nine rebounds per game while shooting 65 percent from the field. At the 2010 FIBA World Championships, he averaged 12 points and a tournament-best 2.8 steals per contest.

The Ducks (2-0) host defending SEC Tournament Champion Vanderbilt tomorrow night at Matthew Knight Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
