Each week O Heroes sits down with one of our student-athletes to get to know more about them on and off the court. This week’s feature is on Coleton Baker, a junior on the Oregon Men’s Basketball team.

A student-athlete of many talents, Baker serves as a Marine Deputy for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. When he isn’t busy working, studying, or playing basketball, Baker enjoys spending time with his family. His strong work ethic and positive attitude make him a remarkable role model within the Eugene and Springfield community.

This past April, Baker combined his passion for basketball and giving back by volunteering at the Warsaw Sports Business Club’s KIDSPORTS Basketball Tournament. At the event, Baker played with the kids and stood out as a leader among other volunteers.

Most recently, at O Heroes’ annual talent show, Showtime, Baker’s country singing performance was a crowd favorite. Together with fellow-teammate Johnathan Loyd, the duo’s performance was a huge contender in this year’s Showtime talent competition.

Baker’s dedication, and recent involvement in the local community is a true inspiration. After graduation, Baker plans to either go overseas to play basketball, or go into law enforcement in his home county.
