Ducks Drop Home Game to Denver 73-62

Sophomore Megan Carpenter led Oregon with a career-high 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting, while junior Danielle Love and freshman Devyn Galland also scored in double figures as they contributed 15 and 11, respectively.
Carpenter also recorded a career-high on the boards as she led Oregon with 17 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end. Freshman Jillian Alleyne recorded 13 rebounds to go along with her seven points.
Defensively, Carpenter blocked four shots, while Alleyne and junior Chynna Miley recorded two steals each.
Six Pioneers score in double figures, led by Jordan Johnston with 13 in 23 minutes. Denver outshot UO 40.9% (27-of-66) to 31.9% (23-of-72) from the field, while also outshooting the Ducks from three-point range 42.9% (9-of-21) to 20.0% (3-of-15). Denver’s bench outscored Oregon’s 26-13.
The Ducks jumped out to an early lead as Megan Carpenter started things off for Oregon with a layup two and a half minutes into the first half. Amanda Delgado followed that up with a three pointer to put the Ducks up 5-0. The Pioneers turned the game around with a Kailey Edwards layup that put them ahead 8-7 with 12:57 remaining in the first half. Denver extended and maintained a lead for the duration of the half.
After trailing 37-29 in the first half, the Ducks got themselves back in the game as Love scored ten points in the first four minutes of the second half before Amanda Delgado hit a three-point shot to put Oregon within four. After trading baskets, Galland scored on a three-point play with 9:35 remaining to bring Oregon within three.
Denver responded and never looked back as they closed the game out on an 18-10 run for a final score of 73-62.
Oregon (0-6) returns to the hardwood on Sunday, Dec. 9 with a home game against Nevada. That game is scheduled to tip-off at 2 p.m. (PT) at Matthew Knight Arena.
