TUCSON, Ariz. – Jillian Alleyne tied the single-game school record by going 11-of-11 from the field and the Oregon women’s basketball team won its third straight game, 84-72, over Arizona on Friday night at the McKale Center.
Lauri Landerholm first set the Oregon record when she went 11-for-11 against Washington State on Jan. 22, 1987. Alleyne went 5-for-5 in the first half and 6-for-6 in the second half on Friday night at Arizona.
Alleyne also posted her second straight 20-20 game with 29 points and 20 rebounds (10 offensive and 10 defensive). After recording 34 points and 25 rebounds in Sunday’s win over Washington, Alleyne is averaging 31.5 points and 22.5 rebounds over her last two games. The sophomore forward now has 30 career double-doubles and 18 this season, including 16 straight.
Chrishae Rowe also starred for the Ducks, as the freshman scored 24 points and grabbed five rebounds. Megan Carpenter scored two points and pulled down seven rebounds in 12 minutes. Amanda Delgado came in off the bench and knocked down three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points.
Oregon led 43-27 at halftime behind Alleyne’s 12 points and nine rebounds in the first 20 minutes. The Ducks ended the first half on an 11-4 run in the final 5:06 after opening the game on a 14-5 run over the first 5:14.
Oregon outscored Arizona, 28-14, on points in the paint in the first half and finished with 46 total.
Arizona cut Oregon’s lead to as little as 11 points in the second half, at 62-51 with 10:32 left in the game. The Ducks responded with a quick 4-0 run to push its lead back to 15 points and led by at least 12 points for the rest of the game, including the final 84-72 margin.
POSTGAME NOTES: Jillian Alleyne posted her 30th career double-double and 18th this season with 29 points and 20 rebounds…Alleyne, who has recorded 16 straight double-doubles, is closing in on Bev Smith’s single-season school record of 24 double-doubles, set during the 1981-82 campaign…Alleyne now has 314 rebounds this season as both the Oregon (Bev Smith) and Pac-12 (Nnemkadi Ogwumike) record is 376…Amanda Delgado was one off her season-high with 11 points.
