Freshman goalkeeper Abby Steele grabbed her first of a career-high nine saves a minute and 27 seconds into the match, which was the only major action that happened until the Sun Devils took an early 1-0 lead off a goal by Devin Marshall at the 11:49 mark. Aissa Sanchez sent the ball over to Marshall who put it back near the post.
Freshman Shanelle Simien took the next shot of the match at 12:45, but the shot went high, still leaving Ducks trailing the Sun Devils, 1-0.
ASU looked to extend their lead on back-to-back strikes by Courtney Tinnin and Holland Crook, but neither were close to finding the back of the net.
Arizona State took a couple of more unsuccessful looks at scoring as the first half of play went down, but eventually converted and added another goal at the 39:47 mark. Madison Cody made the pass to Sierra Cook that went over the head of Steele for her fourth goal of the season, giving ASU the 2-0 advantage.
The Sun Devils applied more pressure to the Oregon defense by adding three more shots, one went wide, while Steele had to save the other two from becoming goals.
ASU tallied back-to-back fouls, giving the Ducks back the ball with a chance to cut the lead in half with under a minute left in the half and freshman Kelsey Foo got the shot off at 44:11, but had to watch it go over their net, allowing the Sun Devils to take their 2-0 lead into the half.
Steele opened up the second half as she did in the first, having to save a shot by Marshall. Oregon made three substitutions coupled in between fouls and at the 55:50 mark, Simien eventually picked up a yellow card, her second of the season.
Steele grabbed three more Sun Devil shots before she gave up her third goal of the match to Marshall again at 67:35. The Ducks fouled prior to the shot by Kari Shane, setting up a free kick. Off the save Marshall caught the rebound and secured the goal, extending their lead to 3-0.
Junior Maddy Mercier looked to erase the shutout by looking to score with less than 20 minutes left in the final stanza, but ASU goalkeeper Alyssa Gillmore saved the chance.
But the Sun Devils were not finished adding to the scoreboard.
Tinnin crossed to Alyssa Freeman, who sent a slight touch pass to Cook, who finished off the far post to give Arizona State their last goal of the match.
With heavy damage already done, head coach Tara Erickson elected to lift Steele for senior goalkeeper Lindsay Parlee at 75:40, who has not appeared in a match for the Ducks since the New Hampshire match on Sept.2.
Junior Scout Libke took Oregon's second corner of the match with less than five minutes and Foo was able to put her leg into a strike at the net, but it went high.
UO was able to scramble and get another look at 89:40 by Foo, but to no avail as the Ducks fell, 4-0.
In Steele's losing effort she falls to 2-7-1 on the season, while Gillmore moves to 5-6 with the win.
Oregon does not play again until Oct. 16 when they travel to Boulder, Colo. to take on the Buffaloes at noon.
