PORTLAND, Ore.- The Portland Timbers and the Oregon Olympic Development Program has named University of Oregon assistant soccer coach Mac Wilson as the 2011 Oregon ODP Coach of the Year.

The third-year assistant has had continued success on the girls' side of the ODP program, leading both the 95 and 96 girls to the ODP Regional Championship Finals in Phoenix, Ariz. in back-to-back seasons. Wilson also sent six more players to the holdover camp in California after an undefeated ODP Regional Camp run, as well and continues to lead the girls' program to unprecedented heights not seen in the state of Oregon.

"It is great to see the coaching Mac has done here in the state of Oregon be recognized with such a prestigious award," said Oregon head coach Tara Erickson. "I have the pleasure of watching Mac at work every single day and I know that he is one of the best out there."

Wilson will officially receive his award at the Timbers' Awards Banquet on Sunday (Oct. 23) at 6 p.m. at the Nines Hotel in downtown Portland.

"Mac's involvement in the youth game has proven to be a huge positive in recruiting for us here at Oregon because of the standard of excellence that he promotes within the game," added Erickson.

Oregon returns to the pitch for four matches at Pape' Field to close out the month, starting with Washington on Friday at 7 p.m. and Washington State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
