EUGENE, Ore.- The Oregon Ducks women's soccer team defeated the Gonzaga Bulldogs 4-2 at Pape' Field after an offensive explosion that saw four different Ducks score. UO is now 5-2-1 on the season, while Gonzaga falls to 5-5-0. A Pape' Field record crowd of 897 people was on hand to witness the victory.

The bulldogs got off to a fast start as they lined up in a unique formation with almost all of their players on the midfield line that led to an early opportunity. Lauren Luke then scored off of a pass from Heather Johnson and a throw in by Morgan Manchester in the first minute of the game.

Oregon quickly turned up the pace offensively, and freshman Kristen Parr scored her sixth goal of the season off of a corner kick pass by Scout Libke in the 16th minute. Gonzaga answered back right away as Sila Tuiofea picked up a loose ball and scored on a breakaway in the 19th minute. Freshman Taylor Boyer tied the game back up in the 38th minute after making a nice move to get by a defender and firing a shot from right outside the box. Today was Boyer's second time seeing game action this season.

"It was disappointing to go out and give up a goal on a set piece early but I thought that the momentum quickly changed as we went on the attack," said head coach Tara Erickson. "Offensively, we did a lot of things right today. Obviously, we will work more defensively to minimize those chances."

After leading the Bulldogs 13-5 in shots in the first half, the Ducks continued their offensive domination in the second half as they outshot their opponent 8-5 and finished with a 21-10 advantage in shots taken. Oregon also held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior Achijah Berry scored her first goal of the season in the 53rd minute after gathering a corner kick by Libke that was deflected by a Bulldog defender. Freshman Mariah Powers also scored her first goal of the season after making a nifty move to get by a defender scoring from the right side of the box.

Four Ducks scored in all today, and three players recorded their first goals of the season. Oregon scored four goals in a game for the first time since Oct. 29th, 2010 when they defeated Arizona 4-0. In addition, 22 players saw the field today for Oregon, further demonstrating the Ducks' advantage in depth.

"I really liked our attack today and scoring goals by so many different players really showed the depth of what we have up top. We got an awesome goal by Achijah Berry, obviously you're always going to get a goal from Kristen Parr, and then we got two goals from two outside backs which again shows the attacking possibilities of this team. I was pleased overall with the offensive outcome and the output that we were generating up there today," added Erickson.

The Ducks stay in Eugene and kick off Pac-12 competition with a match against the Colorado Buffaloes on Friday at 4:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally by the Pac-12 Network.
