Thoughts on Portland match, Friday against OSU - Junior Defender Taylor Jones
Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 - 1 p.m.
We were able to hold the Portland Pilots to 1-1 at halftime. With Portland scoring the first goal of the game, we responded almost immediately with a goal by Jen Stoltenberg. The end result was 4-1, and we may have not received the outcome we were hoping for, but our team grew and learned from our mistakes.
For those of you who were at the game, and those who weren’t, I suffered a season-ending injury 25 minutes into the first half. As I went to defend, my knee didn’t exactly agree with the movement I made. Although that was my last game for the year, I will still be at every practice and every game showing my support to my teammates and keeping you updated on how we are doing through this team blog.
One thing my teammates and I learned from the game last Friday: Play every minute like it’s your last because the thing you love the most can be taken away in a heartbeat.
As the team prepares for our Pac-10 opener tomorrow night against Oregon State, our trainers and coaches have done the best job they can to keep our team healthy this week.
It is time to bring the battle under the lights tomorrow night and we hope that you will all be there to support us. Tomorrow night’s game will also be Breast Cancer Awareness night! Kickoff is at 7:00pm. GO DUCKS!
