MADISON, Wis. – Senior midfielder Kiyomi Cook notched her first career goal as Oregon soccer defeated Milwaukee, 2-0, at McClimon Complex on Sunday.

How it happened: Cook’s goal was the second for the Ducks (1-1-0) as she took a cross from senior forward Bri Pugh and sent the ball into the far post at 82:21. Pugh got Oregon on the board first in the 52nd minute as she beat the keeper and scored on an open net.

What it means: The Ducks picked up their first win of the season and their first road win since 2012. After pushing offensively against Wisconsin, Oregon finally found the back of the net. Pugh picked up her sixth career goal and took five shots. Junior forward Kristen Parr, who had four shots against Wisconsin, took four more Sunday and nearly scored when one hit the post.

Stat of the match: Oregon outshot Milwaukee 14-8 despite only having one corner opportunity to the Panthers’ four.

Record watch: After making two saves against the Panthers, senior goalkeeper Abby Steele now has 248 career saves. With five more, Steele will be tied for third in the Oregon record book in career saves. Steele is also now just two shutouts away from tying the Oregon record (16).

Up next: The Ducks open their home slate next weekend against Saint Mary’s on Friday at 7 p.m. and Loyola Marymount Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Oregon Nike Tournament.
