Ben DeJarnette: Pac-10 Championships
Wednesday, November 17, 2010, 4:45 p.m.
Greetings Duck fans!
I'd like to start with a big thank you to everyone who showed up to cheer us on at last weekend's NCAA West Regional. The crowd's enthusiasm helped propel us to a two-point victory over Stanford and an automatic invitation to next Monday's NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.
After Saturday's race, I had a chance to reflect on the amazing journey that this team has already traveled together. It's a journey that we began apart in body but united in ambition, pounding out miles from the muggy streets of Maryland to the steep slopes of Utah. At preseason training camp, the grueling workouts, steak dinners, and tennis-court football scrimmages forged a team out of us. We left Sunriver with high hopes and aspirations, but ultimately nothing but potential to our name.
Since then, our efforts have only intensified, and our friendships have only grown. We kicked things off with a win at Notre Dame and followed it up with victory at the Dellinger Invite. Then, coming off our first loss of the year at Pac-10s, we bounced back to claim the NCAA West Regional title. With each other's help, we've conquered many challenges. But our greatest challenge is upon us this Monday. We can only hope the final destination is rewarding as the journey.
Until next time,
