Each week O Heroes sits down with one of our student-athletes to get to know more about them on and off the court. This week’s feature is on Lauren Plum, a redshirt junior setter on the Oregon Women’s Volleyball team. A native to San Diego, Plum is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Marketing.

Plum serves as the student-athlete co-liaison for O Heroes where she plays a vital part in organizing O Heroes events within the community. Her success on the court parallels her success in the classroom and within the O Heroes program.

Most recently, Plum joined 25 fellow student-athletes for “MLK Day On!”-- a collaborative effort between O Heroes and the Duck Corps-- who helped improve the building conditions at Willamette High School.

In addition, she volunteered at Polar Plunge Eugene (benefitting Special Olympics Oregon) and makes weekly trips to the Boys & Girls Club of the Emerald Valley. Plum’s involvement within the Eugene/Springfield community reflects her passion for serving others.

Post-graduation, Plum hopes to play professionally overseas and take her volunteering to an international level. Her ultimate goal is to represent the University of Oregon in the Olympics, and to win a gold medal.

Although she hasn’t won Olympic gold yet, Plum deserves a medal for being an influential member of O Heroes. We look forward to seeing the amazing things she will do both on the volleyball court and in the community for years to come!
