EUGENE, Ore. – Get ready to celebrate!

In an incredible feat over two days of intense competition, Oregon swept the men’s and women’s team titles at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., last weekend.

The next “TrackTown Tuesday” event on March 18 at the Downtown Athletic Club will shine a spotlight on those performances.

The free one-hour show begins at 7 p.m.

Doors open to the public at 6 p.m. DAC appetizers will be available for purchase, and $3 will get you a pint of beer poured by Hop Valley Brewing Company. Free parking is available in the adjacent Overpark. No validation is required after 5 p.m.

UO coach Robert Johnson and other staff members will be on hand to introduce selected Duck athletes from both championship teams and the NCAA Indoor championship trophies will be unveiled.

TrackTown USA president Vin Lananna will serve as host of the festivities.

Kicking off the show will be a special guest appearance by Oregon Track Club Elite’s Brianne Theisen-Eaton, who won a silver medal in the pentathlon at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland, earlier this month, and her coach, Harry Marra.

Two other OTC Elite athletes will also be featured – middle distance runners Jordan McNamara and Ciaran O’Lionaird.

McNamara, a 2010 UO alum, is a rising star on the international scene, highlighted by his 1,500-meter victory at the Heusden-Zolder meet in Belgium last summer. McNamara set personals bests of 3:34.00 (1,500m) and 3:52.42 (mile) last season.

O’Lionaird, of Ireland, competed in the 1,500 meters at the 2012 London Olympics. He won bronze in the 3,000 at the European Indoor Championships last year, and was a finalist in the 1,500 at the 2011 IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.

The UO celebration will close out the show.

The next “TrackTown Tuesday” will be April 8 at the Downtown Athletic Club.

Don’t forget: This year promises to be the greatest season of track and field ever staged at Hayward Field, and you can purchase tickets for the NCAA Championships, June 11-14, and the IAAF World Junior Championships, July 22-27, at goducks.com/tracktickets or oregon14.com.
