Each week O Heroes sits down with one of our student-athletes to get to know more about them on and off the track. This week’s feature is on Allie Woodward, a 5-6 distance runner on the Oregon Women’s Cross Country and Track teams.

Allie is currently pursing an undergraduate degree in Journalism with a focus in Public Relations. Not only is she an all-star in the classroom and in the community but she also shines on the track. Most recently, Allie and teammates brought the NCAA Cross Country Title back to Tracktown after she ran a 20:19.5 as Oregon's fourth runner.
Allie’s volunteering efforts inspire her teammates to get involved and give back to the Eugene/ Springfield community. Over the past year she has contributed to many O Heroes events. She participated in “O”lympics, worked with youth at Boys & Girls Club of Emerald Valley, volunteered at Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and decorated the Riverbend Hospital for the holidays.
This November Allie spoke on behalf of all O Heroes student-athlete's at Eugene's weekly Oregon Club meeting and was large part in the successes of the Thanksgiving Basket Drive and Support Sport Initiative. A vital member of the O Heroes movement, Allie always strives to put forth her best effort in giving back and has created a lasting impression within the Oregon community.

After graduation, Allie plans to run professionally and work as a public relations representative within the sports business field. She hopes to continue her philanthropic work by starting a camp for young runners and inspire youth to give back.

With the fall term coming to a close, Allie Woodward will be our last Hero of the Week for the 2012 year. Look out for the next Hero on Thursday, January 10th.
