EUGENE, Ore. - The visiting Oregon State Beavers withstood a late Oregon rally to hold off the Ducks, 63-53, on Tuesday night at Matthew Knight Arena.

Oregon State improved to 8-9 (2-3 Pac-12), while the Ducks fell to 2-15 (0-5 Pac-12). 

Despite four points and three rebounds in the first eight minutes from Oregon's Liz Brenner, a 14-2 run by the Beavers gave them a 15-6 edge with under 12 minutes remaining in the opening half. Oregon State hit three shots from behind the arc during that stretch. The Beavers extended their lead to 13 at the 10-minute mark after a Patricia Bright bucket put them up 22-9.

Oregon was able to pull within 10 on two separate occasions after that point but the Beavers were able to withstand the Ducks' mini-runs to grab a 33-18 lead with 3:19 to play in the half.

Oregon State carried a 37-20 lead into the locker room. Brenner and Danielle Love combined for 16 of the Ducks' 20 points, scoring nine and seven points, respectively.  Oregon shot just 19 percent (6-of-31) in the first half.

The Beavers opened the second half on a 7-0 run to take a 44-20 lead.  The 24-point edge was their largest of the game at that point. But Oregon responded with an 8-0 run, capped by back-to-back layups by Brenner and Love, to cut the deficit to 16, 44-28. The run forced an Oregon State timeout at the 13:40 mark.

Oregon State came out of the timeout by scoring six out of the next nine points, however, to take a 50-31 lead into the under-12 media timeout. 

The two teams went scoreless for nearly three minutes following the timeout. Then, Amanda Delgado buried a three with 8:28 left and Jillian Alleyne and Brenner followed with consecutive layups to make it a 12-point game (50-38) with 7:25 remaining. Moments later, Love brought the Ducks to within eight, 50-42, with a three-ball from the left wing.

Delgado hit another jumper from long-range with just over two minutes left to make it a 57-50 game but the Beavers were able to convert a three-point play to push the lead back to 10 with 1:30 left. 

The Ducks could not draw closer than eight after that point.

Brenner led Oregon with 17 points and eight rebounds. Love followed in the scoring category (12) and Alleyne led all players with 13 rebounds. Jamie Weisner's 22 points paced the Beavers and led all scorers. The Ducks shot 26 percent compared to Oregon State's 38 percent from the field. Oregon hit 6 of 24 three-point attempts and out-rebounded the Beavers 47-41 in the loss.

Oregon will look to avenge Tuesday's loss to Oregon State when they take on the Beavers in Corvallis this Sunday (Jan. 20) at 2 p.m.
