PULLMAN, Wash. -- Ariel Thomas scored 20 points and registered career-highs with 11 rebounds and eight assists to lead the University of Oregon women’s basketball team to a 70-68 road win over Washington State on Friday night in Pullman, Wash.

Thomas scored Oregon's last 10 points over the final two minutes of the game. She buried a pair of 3-pointers, made a driving runner in the lane and made some key free throws to help seal the victory.

It was the Ducks’ first win in the Pac-12 Conference schedule, improving their record to 3-16 overall and 1-6 in conference play. WSU dropped to 5-13 overall and 1-6 in league action.

Thomas was one of three Ducks to score in double-figures. Amanda Delgado scored a career-high 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field, making all of those attempts from behind the 3-point arc. Jillian Alleyne registered her seventh double-double of the season with 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Oregon finished the game shooting 34.9 percent from the floor (22-of-63), while hitting 40 percent from behind the 3-point arc (12-of-30). UO also made 73.7 percent of its free throw attempts (14-of-19).

Washington State was limited to 37.2 percent on overall field goal shooting (29-of-78) and 17.4 percent on 3-pointers (4-of-23). The Cougars were led offensively by Tia Presley who scored a team-high 16 points. Lia Galdeira added 13 points for WSU.

Oregon dished out 17 assists to its 22 made baskets and had a 52-44 advantage in rebounding.

The Ducks were out front during the early stages of the game. UO took a 16-12 lead after a long 3-pointer from Delgado at the 10:34 mark, and then pushed it out to an 18-12 advantage after a put-back by Alleyne with 8:05 to play.

Delgado was red hot from behind the 3-point line as she made 5-of-7 attempts in the first half alone. Her fifth 3-pointer gave UO its largest lead of the half, 29-15, with four minutes in the half. UO posted a 16-3 run over six minutes during that stretch.

Oregon led 36-24 at halftime with that 12-point edge being the Ducks’ largest halftime lead of the year. UO had only led at the break on two other occasions this season. Fifteen of UO’s first-half points came from Delgado. Thomas contributed seven points, six rebounds and six assists over the first 20 minutes to help pace UO.

The Ducks held off a mini-surge from WSU to start the second half, with UO maintaining a 43-32 lead with 16:46 on the clock.

After the Cougars cut the lead to seven points, Thomas buried a long 3-pointer from straight away to give UO a 46-36 advantage. On the next offensive possession, Thomas ran the break and found a wide open Delgado who sank another 3-pointer from the right side which pushed the lead out to 13 points.

WSU once again made a run in the second half, out-scoring UO 17-6 to cut the lead to two points, 55-53, with 9:02 in the game. A 3-pointer by WSU’s Katie Grad tied the game at 60 points with four minutes remaining.

The Cougars took their first lead of the second half, 62-60, at the 3:20 mark after a lay-up by Presley who scored 12 of her 16 points in the second half.

Oregon regained the lead after Thomas buried a clutch 3-pointer. On UO’s next possession it was Thomas again who made a driving one-handed runner on the right side to put UO up 65-63 with under a minute to play.

WSU tied it up at 65-apiece, but Thomas hit a 3-pointer to give the Ducks a cushion before making a pair of free throws with 15 seconds remaining.

Oregon (3-16, 1-6) returns to action on Sunday with a road game against Washington. Tip-time is scheduled for 2 p.m. (PT) at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle.
