EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon Ducks enter the final day at the Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawaii, in 11th place after shooting a 289 as a team on Thursday afternoon.
The 289 brings Oregon's two-day total to 576. The team opened with a first-round 287 yesterday. The Ducks sit 21 strokes behind leader Washington (555) but are just three strokes behind Arizona State (573) and four behind Stanford (572) for 10th and ninth place, respectively.
The 2013 Amer Ari Invitational features eight NCAA Division I schools ranked in the top-25 nationally and 20 schools overall.
UCLA's Pontus Widegren and Texas' Cody Gribble are tied for the individual tournament lead at seven-under par (137).
Senior Robbie Ziegler carded a two-under 70 today to lead the Oregon charge. Ziegler's two day total of 147 (77-70) puts him in a tie for 65th overall. His round today featured four birdies; he shot over-par on only the par-four 10th.
Oregon's leader in the individual standings heading into the tournament's final day is freshman Brandon McIver, who carries a two day total of one-under par (72-71=143). McIver sits in a tie for 30th with 10 other golfers. Senior Tyler Parker follows McIver in a tie for 41st in the individual rankings. He shot a two-over 74 today to bring his score through two rounds to an even-par 144 (70-74=144).
After carding an impressive four-under 68 in the opening round, sophomore Jonathan Woo stumbled to a 45th-place tie by shooting a five-over 77 today. He is one-over par after two rounds (68-77=145). Freshmen Zach Foushee, who is competing as an individual, and Sulman Raza sit in a tie for 79th and 94, respectively, through two days in Hawaii. Foushee shot par today (72) to bring his two-day total to 148 (76-72=148) while Raza carded a two-over 74 to take a 151 into the final day (77-74=151).
