CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - The No. 9 University of Oregon softball team (10-3) held off Cal Poly (3-9) from staking its third upset of a top-20 foe this year with a 2-1 victory Saturday afternoon at the Big League Dreams Complex.

For UO, freshman Cheridan Hawkins (3-1) struck out one, allowed only one hit, walked three, and her run allowed in the six-inning start was unearned.

All-America senior Jessica Moore pitched the final inning and logged her first save of the campaign after she struck out one, walked one, and allowed no hits or runs.

The Mustangs scored their run in the second inning after a walk and error in center field was followed by an RBI double by Mariah Cochiolo.

UO tied the game in the fourth inning after sophomore center fielder Janie Takeda led off with a single up the middle, then scored on a double by junior first baseman Kailee Cuico to left center field.

In the fourth inning, junior shortstop Courtney Ceo delivered her second game-winning RBI of the season, thanks to her two-out double down the left field line. Senior right fielder Samantha Pappas scored the run after she had doubled to left field the prior at-bat.

Mustang starter Chloe Wurst (2-3) pitched her fourth complete game of the season, allowed five hits, struck out seven, walked two, and both of her runs allowed were earned.

UO also beat Nebraska, 11-1, in six innings later Saturday evening, and CLICK HERE for a recap.

Looking ahead to Sunday's final-day action, UO plays UNLV at 11:30 a.m. and San Diego State at 2 p.m.
