EUGENE, Ore.—The No. 44 University of Oregon men’s tennis team continues conference play this weekend as it hosts the No. 21 California Golden Bears and the No. 47 Stanford Cardinal at the UO Student Tennis Center on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Cal is 8-8 overall on the season and 0-1 in conference play, while Stanford is 7-7 overall and 0-2 in the Pac-12.
The Golden Bears are coming off of a weekend that featured a 5-2 loss against No. 4 UCLA at home and a cancelled game against No. 2 USC due to rain. The Cardinal are also coming off of a 5-2 home loss to UCLA, but they were able to take on the Trojans, falling 6-1.
Oregon is 14-3 on the season after opening up conference play with a split on the road at Utah (L, 5-2) and Arizona (W, 6-1). The Ducks remain undefeated at home, posting an impressive 11-0 record at the UO Student Tennis Center.
In addition, UO has not lost a single doubles point thus far and owns a 43-5 doubles record. Robin Cambier and Jeff Mullen lead the way for Oregon in doubles with a 14-1 record, all in the No. 1 spot. Alex Rovello and Daan Maasland have teamed up to record 13 wins and only one loss, and Daniel Sardu and Aaron Clissold have performed as well, posting a 10-1 record.
In singles, Sardu owns a 10-2 record with most of his matches coming in the No. 5 spot, while Maasland has opened eyes as a freshman with a 15-2 record, mostly out of the No. 4 spot. Cambier has played in one of the top two spots all season and is 12-3 on the year. Playing the majority of his matches in the No. 3 spot, Rovello has also excelled, winning 14 of his 17 matches. Overall, Oregon is 70-28 in singles matches.
